Oklahoma onion burger from the plancha
By André · 4 September 2026
Definitely one of my absolute favourite burgers. The onions that are smashed into the meat make it super juicy and aromatic. A burger as it should be.

Place the meat on the hot plancha, add the onions on top, and smash everything flat together until lovely roasted aromas develop.
Step 3: Season and Melt Cheese
Add some seasoning, place cheese on top, and cover with the melting dome until the cheese is melted.
Step 4: Mixing the sauce
In the meantime, mix mayo, ketchup, and mustard with a few pickles.
Step 5: Stacking and Keeping Warm
Place a few gherkins on the cheese, stack the patties in pairs and keep warm on the grill for a short while.
Step 6: Toast the buns
Clean the plancha, add a bit of clarified butter, and briefly toast the buns.
Step 7: Assemble
Sauce on the bun, the patty pair on top, a bit more sauce and the top bun on.
